About Us

The WCMICS

The Western & Central Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service, or "the WCMICS" is a partnership between 6 health care organizations - Werribee Mercy, St Vincent's Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Melbourne Hospital, The Royal Women's hospital and Western Health. We are funded by the Victorian Department of Human Services to implement the Victorian Government's Cancer Services Framework across our region.

Our Objectives

In line with the overall aim of the Framework, WCMICS' main objectives are to:

  • meet the needs of people with cancer living within its geographic area, as well as in other metropolitan and regional ICS who use WCMICS services, and
  • enhance integration and coordination of cancer services within its area, including the development of clear and formal communication processes, referral patterns and relationships
    • between its primary, secondary and tertiary services
    • as well as with other ICS services

Our Governance

The WCMICS is governed by 2 key committees (the CEO /Delegates Governance Group and the Clinical Management Advisory Committee). The WCMICS Directorate is responsible for the day to day co-ordination and management of WCMICS activities.
